A Brief History of Farmville Area HFH:
Dec. 1990: Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity incorporated.
Feb. 1991: FAHFH signs covenant with Habitat for Humanity International
Jun. 1992: FAHFH completes and dedicates our first home
1995: Second home completed and dedicated
1996: Third home completed and dedicated
Apr. 1997: FAHFH completes and dedicates fourth home after a 48-hour blitz build (with over 200 volunteers)
1999: Town of Farmville donates three plots of land to FAHFH
Mar. 2000: FAHFH completes and dedicates 5th home.
Mar. 2001: 6th home completed and dedicated.
Dec. 2001: 7th home completed and dedicated
Apr. 2002: Hampden-Sydney College funds and builds its first house in partnership with FAHFH (eighth home).
Nov. 2003: 9th and 10th homes dedicated
Jul. 2004: 11th home completed and dedicated
Jan. 2005: 12th home completed
Oct. 2005: FAHFH completes and dedicated thirteenth home in partnership with Piedmont Regional jail.
Apr. 2006: 14th home dedicated
Sept. 2007: 16th home started in Dillwyn, VA
Nov. 2007: 15th “Anniversary” home dedicated
Oct. 2008: 16th home dedicated.
Nov. 2008: 17th home started in Farmville, VA
Jan. 2009: Opened a ReStore in Farmville, VA
April 2009: Blitz Build in Farmville with the “Habitat Road trip Crazies” to finish the 17th house and start the 18th home to receive a grant from the Rehabilitative Services Incentive Fund.
June 2009: Dedicate 17th and 18th Habitat Homes in Farmville
